JISC Collections - Pool your Purchasing Power
JISC Collections for Schools is a Becta-funded initiative which enables schools across the UK to benefit from discounts of up to 75% on a range of 11 high quality online subscription resources, specially selected to support the needs of teachers and learners.
A choice of products is currently available – from newspaper archives, general reference and copyright-cleared images providing support across the curriculum, to resources for subjects including Art, History, Modern Languages, Music, and Science. Additional resources will be available from September 2009.
Prices for resources are based on the numbers of schools purchasing – the more schools that subscribe, the cheaper they become. An example of this is, if 10 schools with 250 pupils join a buying group to access the Times Digital Archive, the cost per student would be just 25p, compared with £1.96 per student for a school of 250 children buying it alone.
