E-safety Live '09

This year's E-Safety Live has now finished. Why not join our events mailing list to be kept updated about future SWGfL events.
E-Safety Live took place at the UWE Conference and Exhibition centre. Why not take a look at our live photoblog of the event to get a taster of the day.

We would like to thank you all for coming and taking part in this very special conference. A huge thank you to all of our speakers who, we're sure you'll all agree, performed magnificently on the day and have contributed significantly towards the ongoing E-Safety agenda.

We hope that the conference fulfilled your expectations and has inspired you with tangible knowledge, solutions and actions to take forward into your daily practices within the E-Safety agenda.

All of the resources and presentations from the keynotes and seminars are now available here. We will also be publishing videos of the keynote speeches in due course.

Finally, last but by no least, we like to thank all of our sponsors and exhibitors; without whose generous support we would not be able to put on an event of this standard.

E-Safety '09 Theme

“Everyone has a role to play in empowering children to stay safe while they enjoy the new technologies, just as it is everyone’s responsibility to keep children safe in the
non-digital world.”

Prof Tanya Byron The Byron Review, March 2008

This year, South West Grid for Learning has organised the most formidable array of national and international E-safety experts in the UK for our annual conference.

Delegates to the conference will have an unprecedented opportunity to gain an understanding of the emerging national policy picture, the international perspective and the latest academic research.

You’ll also hear recommendations for the practical solutions that all of us can utilise to ensure that children are safe when using the new technologies, while having the opportunity to listen to Professor Tanya Byron, the author of the Byron review.

The Byron review was commissioned by the Prime minister, and its recommendations and comments on safety have been accepted in full by the UK Government. The Review provides the blueprint and catalyst for change in the field of e-safety.
