Oh no, filtered again!

Did you know: you can change your school’s filtering settings?

Your filtering solution is powered by SWGfL through the RM Internet Hosting Group. For your safety and the safety of your users, SWGfL comply with the Internet Watch Foundation which means that all illegal and criminally obscene content is automatically filtered as per the IWF legal requirements.

As well as this, SWGfL also apply another layer of default filtering to protect your users. However, we know that no establishment is the same and each has different requirements. Therefore you can change your filtering settings through your filtering software to ensure that you permit and/or block the sites which YOU require.

Through our optional services your school can purchase the RM SafetyNet Plus filtering option: allowing you to manage the websites you want access to whilst providing you with a ‘safetynet’. This service allows staff to access any site whilst children are still protected by the filter and it also supports you in creating an environment that protects users while online. Many schools use RM SafetyNet Plus without customising the filtering settings, but you can choose to tailor the protection to your individual requirements. You can control which web sites, web searches and file extensions your users can access. There are a number of ‘categorised’ filter lists which you can switch on or off (including web-based email, social networking and non-educational gaming filter lists). Alternatively, for optimum control, you have the option to create your own filter lists containing whatever rules you choose to apply. For more information about this service and guidance on how to tailor RM SafetyNet Plus to meet your school requirements, please click here.

SWGfL recognize that schools needs vary greatly with regard to filtering and, as such, through our ‘optional services’ your school have a choice of which filtering software to use. To find out about all options available click here.
