Schools can now access a
FREE, comprehensive and progressive curriculum to enable them to embed digital literacy across the school and beyond!
One of the key recommendations from the Byron review 2008 was the provision of resources that empowered schools and families to build resilience in children and young people to keep them safe, responsible, and savvy as they navigate this fast-paced digital world. The South West Grid for Learning Digital Literacy Curriculum Programme, based on the world-renowned Common Sense Media Progressions, provides schools with the resource to do exactly that.
The Digital Literacy Progressions:
- Redefine the concepts of resilience beyond the traditional E-Safety messages!
- Provide a clear progression from Foundation Stage to key Stage 5!
- Signpost opportunities to teach Digital Literacy in other areas of the UK curriculum
- Come with easily accessible lesson plans and resources that are media rich, engaging and relevant!
The three key strands of Safety and Security, Digital Citizenship, and Research and Information Literacy are supported by a whole package of age-related lessons and resources; quick links to lesson plans; accompanying videos and even resources for parents. Based on internationally renowned resources from Common Sense Media in the United States they are further enriched with links to UK and international resources.
The full set of
FREE materials will be available from the South West Grid for Learning website at the end of August 2012 but if you can’t wait until then take a peek at what is coming up soon at
