20 Year 9's as part of a project were learning all about social enterprise as part of one of a theme days.
As part of the day they aimed to gain an idea of what a Social Enterprise is and the importance of people, planet and profit. The group of students came up with an excellent idea of producing an E-book as this would have a really low impact on the planet, the content of the E-book they decided to use Facebook as they know there is a debate at the moment in the media focusing on the negative effect of social networking such as its influence on the riots.
The students then decided to donate all their profit to a charity, the charity they selected was Action for the Children as they are working on ways of protecting young people online.
In just a few hours they produced an excellent E-book as a great resource for children, teachers, Headteachers and parents all over the world.
The E-book covers how to use Facebook socially, for learning, how teachers can use it in the classroom, why Headteachers should allow it to be used in schools and how parents can help protect their child when using Facebook.
The students set out to raise £100 and have already raised around £500 – if you would like to support and get a copy of this then please visit:
