All 2012 Briefings have now happened
The autumn term will see radical change; change that will have far reaching impact on e-safety and professional responsibilities at your school. SWGfL is organising short briefing sessions right across the South West to outline these changes and their impact on your school.
These sessions will be free for SWGfL connected schools (£30 for non SWGfL members) to attend and last approximately
2 hours. They are aimed at senior leaders
Why are these briefings important?
The new Ofsted inspection framework will be announced in the autumn term and implemented from January.
The DfE commented that “In 2012, the new Ofsted framework will come into force and will include ‘behaviour and safety’ as one of its key criteria for inspections. Schools should be able to demonstrate the impact of anti-bullying policies”. It also said - "Successful schools: regularly evaluate and update their approach to take account of developments in technology, for instance updating ‘acceptable use’ policies for computers;". Referenced within the guidance, it also makes clear that “Bullying can take many forms (for instance, cyber-bullying via text messages or the internet)”
At the same time, the government has announced new powers for schools and teachers. The new Education Bill proposes extended “powers to search pupils for any items that are banned by school rules such as mobile phones" How will this impact on you, your school and your practice?
