Staying Safe Policies
E-safety must be a whole school responsibility; a framework of effective policies and procedures is the backbone to effective practice. This section gives advice and guidance on the areas that should be covered by the school's policies.

These policies include those deployed centrally by SWGfL as well as national policies and guidelines.

Introduction to Safety and Security - SWGfL Safe

Safety and security is a prime consideration for all education establishments using the Internet and is represented by the umbrella concept of 'SWGfL Safe'. The South West Grid for Learning has invested significantly in reducing these risks.

SWGfL Internet Acceptable Use Policy

The purpose of this policy is to ensure that users of the South West Grid for Learning (SWGfL) understand the way in which the Internet is to be used. The policy aims to ensure that the Internet is used effectively for its intended purpose, without infringing legal requirements or creating unnecessary risk. Users should read this policy alongside the other SWGfL policies: the Filtering Policy and the Email Policy.

Reporting Abuse

The South West Grid for Learning (SWGfL) will investigate all instances of abusive emails or bulletin board content that are raised. If possible, action will be taken to resolve the issue.

The Internet Safety Protocol

Safety and security is at the heart of the South West Grid for Learning (SWGfL) values. Our 'Internet Safety Protocol guide' is designed to be a point of reference in the event that the Internet is used to access (or suspicion of access) inappropriate or illegal material.
