The following is an account by children working with Terry Taylor. Digital Art How we made a picture. Step 1: First we took some photos with a digital camera. They had to represent us, we needed a background and a number of layers. The Background could be your favourite colour, place or maybe something else. Step 2: We downloaded the pictures to the computer from the Digital camera. Then we saved them on the computer. This then enabled us to re-arrange and change the pictures. Step 3: Next we loaded our pictures on to adobe photo shop. On adobe photo shop you can cut and paste your photos in anyway you want. You can also change the colours, fade the picture and change the position of the photos and size. Step 4: then we saved and printed our pictures. WHY WE DID IT: To make imaginary photos. To make photos of our selves in imaginary places, e.g: in a fish tank. We had to make it like a collage on a computer. Ronan likes owls so he took a picture of himself and put it on the computer then cut out what he didn't want. Then he took a picture by the Digital camera of an owl and then put on the computer and cut out the owls eyes and pasted his own eyes onto the owl. Charlotte's ideas Charlotte started by copying a picture of the Titanic from a book and pasted 3 of her friends and herself. To paste her friends she used Adobe PhotoShop. After that she rearranged her friends and made them smaller. Emma's ideas Emma took 3 pictures 1 was of a Compass another one was of a fish and her third one was of a road sign and her finished picture was called FISHY JUNCTION.
I made this picture (Above) with my friend William. We were allowed to work on it in our spare time - after we had finished our work in other lessons. I used Adobe Photoshop and worked out quite a lot of it myself - although one of the teachers showed me how to cut out and copy the pictures - for example how you can get a better picture by enlarging the one you are cutting so it looks neater when it is reduced. I had seen the year sixes working on their pictures too. We chose a black background so the pictures showed up well and looked on the Nintendo workshop for three of the pictures. We copied them without cutting them at all. Next we looked on the Games Workshop (Warhammer) web site and cut out two of the figures from there. We used the school digital camera to take pictures of ourselves pretending to fight. We took about twenty photos, downloaded the pictures using the camera software and saved them in our own folders and then chose the best three to use and opened them in Adobe. We cut and resized them and added them to the picture. The last picture we looked for was the alien creature - we looked for ages on the web before we chose 'enemy'. Finally we put yellow stars on which got changed accidentally into the blobs but as we quite liked them we decided they should stay! I have enjoyed doing digital art and have done three pictures altogether now. By Tad - year 5 To see more about this work, look at the Dorset Digital arts Webpages |
