This is a
simple project that can be developed at early stages of IT literacy.
The purpose of the project is to make working with computers fun
and to open up an understanding of digital image manipulation.
Each participant
is asked to take a number of photographs of their direct family
(Mum, Dad, Sisters, Brothers, Grandparents). This may also include
pets, a picture of where they live and any favourite toys or objects.
The pictures
are collated into an A4 sheet and printed out or alternatively
marked up as HTML (hypertext markup language) and uploaded to
the internet.
Children are
encouraged to write a short statement in words to accompany their
images and the completed set may be bound as a book or pinned
up on the wall.
There are
a variety of ways to acquire the images using conventional cameras
or digital equipment.
The project
can be developed over a series of regular lessons or developed
over an intensive week. Click on the right arrow to go to the
next step or on 'step 2' above.
