There are a variety
of sound editing programmes on the market. For the purpose of this project
we will be using SoundForge XP which runs on Windows 95/98/NT. This
is produced by Sonic Foundry. Apple Mac users are recommended to use
Sound Edit which offers similar facilities.
All sound editing
software operates on similar principles. Sounds appear as waveforms
on the timeline (if you have a stereo file then two waveforms appear).
Once the sounds appear on the timeline, then a variety of processes
and effects can be applied to them including pitch bend, reverb and
distortion.
Students will enjoy
the process of exploring the various effects once they have recorded
their sounds.
