The Water Cycle

link to Video clip of water cycle

Transcription of video narration:

The suns heat causes some water from the sea to evaporate. The water changes from a liquid to a gas - it forms water vapour. The water vapour gas is absorbed by the air. The mixture of water vapour and air rises and cools. As it cools the water vapour condenses and turns back to water but it forms tiny droplets of water which hang in the air forming clouds. If a wind blows the cloud over land it will rise further cooling and producing more water droplets. The droplets may join together and get big enough to form as rain or the air may be cooled enough so that other forms of precipitation may be formed, such as snow or hail. The water that is precipitated eventually flows in rivers back to the sea. Then the water cycle repeats itself. Water is heated causing evaporation. It rises and cools causing condensation. Water falls as precipitation. Then rivers run off to the sea. Evaporation, condensation, precipitation, run-off, evaporation, condensation.
