This is one of the earliest maps to show Torquay and provides a useful indication of the town in its infancy as a resort. Pupils could compare this map with later Ordnance Survey maps of the 1^st and 2^nd series and of course modern maps. They could produce an overlay for a modern map, perhaps using acetate or tracing paper, showing Torquay in 1806 to make a vivid comparison.
