It is notable both how many people look directly at the camera for so long – clearly movie film was a novelty! – and how static the camera was. Once the large and heavy cameras had been set up, they were not moved readily. This problem continued right through to the Second World War. Pupils could use this film clip as a stimulus to writing a report of a day in Torquay as a visitor at this time. They would need to use some of the other sources to provide them with the necessary knowledge and understanding.
