Pupils might compare amusements with the family entertainment that is available today. They might consider how the fair in the photograph would have sounded in comparison with a visiting fair of today where electronic games and noises would probably predominate. With further research work, pupils might write an account of a visit to a fair in 1900.

Pupils could use the video clip as a stimulus to writing a report of a day in Torquay as a visitor at this time. They would need to use some of the other sources to provide them with the necessary knowledge and understanding.
