Can you tell from the picture what seine netting is? The fishermen floated a large net into the sea and, after a while, hauled it in again to catch fish swimming close to the shore. If you look carefully, you can see the floats which kept one side of the net at the surface of the water. Although many people had jobs which depended on visitors to Torquay, fishing continued to provide a living for others.
