This print provides a good view of Torquay in 1890. Notice the fishermen in the foreground still earning their living from fishing. In the background, what facilities can you see for rich visitors? Notice the paddle steamer for boat trips as well as yachts and other pleasure boats. You can also see the pleasant villas on the hills above the town which were owned or rented by the wealthy. The Baths and Assembly Rooms are just to the right of the harbour, at the water’s edge.
