Compare this photo with the one of the harbour called Seafront.(early 19th century). Look very closely and compare the buildings around the harbour. Do you notice any differences?

Can you spot the church? Has it changed from the earlier photograph?

Look at the print called Harbour 1825. How can we tell that this is an early picture? ( Look at the roads, houses and buildings and ships in the harbour). What differences do you notice about the land behind the harbour, beneath Waldon Hill? What do you think has happened? 

 Look at the print of the Harbour circa 1850. What differences do you notice? Look at the buildings - are they the same? Is the harbour as busy? Is it less built up?
